What makes a great teacher? Teaching is one of the most complicated jobs today. It demands broad knowledge of subject matter, curriculum and standards; enthusiasm, a caring attitude and a love of learning; knowledge of discipline and classroom management techniques; and a desire to make a difference in the lives of young people. With all these qualities required, it's no wonder that it's hard to find great teachers.
Here are some characteristics of great teachers:
Great teachers set high expectations for all students. They expect that all students can and will achieve in their classroom, and they don't give up on underachievers.
Great teachers have clear, written-out objectives. Effective teachers have lesson plans that give students a clear idea of what they will be learning, what the assignments are and what the grading policy is. Assignments have learning goals and give students ample opportunity to practice new skills. The teacher is consistent in grading and returns work in a timely manner.
Great teachers are prepared and organized. They are in their classrooms early and ready to teach. They present lessons in a clear and structured way. Their classrooms are organized in such a way as to minimize distractions.
Great teachers engage students and get them to look at issues in a variety of ways. Effective teachers use facts as a starting point, not an end point; they ask "why" questions, look at all sides and encourage students to predict what will happen next. They ask questions frequently to make sure students are following along. They try to engage the whole class, and they don't allow a few students to dominate the class. They keep students motivated with varied, lively approaches.
Great teachers form strong relationships with their students and show that they care about them as people. Great teachers are warm, accessible, enthusiastic and caring. Teachers with these qualities are known to stay after school and make themselves available to students and parents who need them. They are involved in school-wide committees and activities, and they demonstrate a commitment to the school.
Great teachers are masters of their subject matter. They exhibit expertise in the subjects they are teaching and spend time continuing to gain new knowledge in their field. They present material in an enthusiastic manner and instill a hunger in their students to learn more on their own.
Great teachers communicate frequently with parents. They reach parents through conferences and frequent written reports home. They don't hesitate to pick up the telephone to call a parent if they are concerned about a student.

Kita selalu mendengar orang berkata dia bisa memberi lebih dari 100%, atau kita selalu dalam situasi dimana seseorang ingin kita memberi 100% sepenuhnya.
Bagaimana bila ingin mencapai 101%?
Apakah nilai 100% dalam hidup?
Mungkin sedikit formula matematika dibawah ini dapat membantu memberi jawabannya.

My Children ask me to do these........

Whether you are a teacher, parent, relative, boss, or fellow community member, each of us has a chance to make a positive and impactful difference in a child’s life.
But in order to do this, we must carefully consider this question:
What do you think matters most to our children?
For 5 years I have been posing this question to my students. At the beginning of every school year, I would ask my students to give me advice on how to be their best teacher. I asked them to think about the times they felt most successful and to consider what the adults in their lives did to make this success possible.
The classroom would become immediately silent as the students wrote intensely for longer than they had ever written before. Smiles would appear on their faces as they reflected on the happy experiences they were remembering. After reading their responses I would add to my list all the ideas they mentioned.
Surprisingly, many of the responses were the same. Year after year, in every grade level, content area and classroom I was in, regardless of demographics or background, students were saying the same things and had the same message: It’s the small things you do that mean  the most.  That is what they remembered. That is what mattered.
Here is a list of the 12 Most Important things that came out of these amazing conversations.:

1. Greet me each day

Wish me good morning, and send me off with a “see ya tomorrow.”

2. Smile

When you look at me, let me see happiness in your eyes.

3. Give me your attention

Sit and talk with me privately; even if only for a second.

4. Imagine with me

Help me dream of things I might be able to do; not just the things I need to do now.

5. Give me challenging content and assignments

Show me how to handle it. Teach me what to do.

6. Ask about me

Inquire about my weekend, the game a played, the places I go. It shows you care about my life.

7. Let me have time

Time to let things sink in. Time to think. Time to reflect, process, and play.

8. Demand of me

Hold me accountable to high standards. Don’t let me get away with what you know I am capable of doing better.

9. Notice Me

Leave special messages in my desk or locker. Just a quick not that says you notice something right.

10. Let me ask the questions

Even if they are off topic. It will show that I am thinking about new perspectives, curious, and willing to learn more. Let me have the chance to show what I am wondering about, not just what I know.

11. Engage me

I came to you in love with learning, keep me excited, keep me wanting more.

12. Trust me

Believe that I can do it. Allow me the chance. I promise to show you I can

IT'S ALWAYS HARD TO LOSE A FRIEND ......

Sahabat sejati adalah ikatan pertemanan yang didasari oleh ikatan batin diantara keduanya. Persahabatan sejati sangat dipengaruhi oleh faktor ketulusan, kecintaan, kasih sayang, pengorbanan, pengertian dan saling memotivasi. Jika faktor-faktor itu telah dimiliki oleh teman kita termasuk diri kita, maka persahabatan sejati pun akan terbentuk dengan sendirinya. Tanpa faktor-faktor di atas, mustahil sebuah persahabatan sejati akan terbina. Jika kita ingin mempunyai sahabat sejati, maka terlebih dahulu diri kita sendiri harus mempunyai jiwa seperti yang disebutkan di atas.
Ketika diri kita bersedih, sahabat sejati akan berusaha menghibur diri kita. Ketika diri kita ditimpa kesulitan, sahabat sejati akan berusaha membantu meringankan kesulitan kita. Ketika kita memerlukan bantuan seorang teman, sahabat sejati akan membantu dengan ketulusan dan pengorbanannya. Ketika diri kita ada kesalahan dan kehilafan, sahabat sejati akan berusaha mengingatkan diri kita. Begitupun sebaliknya, jika teman kita sedang ditimpa kesulitan dan kesusahan, diri kita pun berusaha untuk membantu meringankan beban mereka dan melakukan apapun yang bisa kita lakukan untuknya.
Selain faktor-faktor di atas, ada faktor penting yang harus dijaga keberadaannya yaitu kejujuran dan saling menjaga kepercayaan. Kejujuran dan saling menjaga kepercayaan merupakan faktor yang wajib dimiliki bila kita ingin menjalin persahabatan yang sejati. Jika kejujuran dan kepercayaan telah ternoda, maka jangan harap persahabatan yang abadi akan terbina. Kejujuran dan kepercayaan merupakan unsur persahabatan yang lahir dari hati nurani yang paling dalam. Kesucian akan kejujuran dan kepercayaan haruslah tetap terjaga dan jangan mencoba merusaknya dengan sebuah keburukan jiwa dan nafsu, karena jika sudah rusak akan sulit mengembalikan seperti semula.
Setiap manusia berharap memiliki sahabat sejati dalam mengarungi hidupnya. Keberadaan sahabat sejati ini sangat penting keberadannya sebagai motivator hidup dan tempat mencurahkan isi hati dan perasaan jiwa. Terkadang jika kita memiliki masalah baik itu masalah berat maupun ringan, dan kita bisa berbicara dengan sahabat sejati kita, seolah-olah permasalahan itu sedikit demi sedikit sirna. Mungkin hal itu sebagai dampak psikologis atas keberadaan seorang sahabat sejati di tengah-tengah kehidupan kita.
Persahabatan yang dilandasi perasaan cinta dan kasih sayang, kejujuran dan kepercayaan, pengertian, ketulusan serta kedekatan jiwa, akan menjadikannya pertemanan yang abadi sampai kapan pun dan dimana pun kita berada. Persahabatan sejati tidak akan terpisah oleh waktu dan tempat. Kita sering mendengar dan melihat berbagai kisah persahabatan sampai usia renta, hal itu tentunya jika memiliki unsur-unsur persahabatan seperti di atas. Semoga kita pun mendapatkan sahabat sejati yang akan terus menjalin pertemanan sampai akhir hayat kita.
Kubaca tulisan ini,…saat aku merasakan kesalahan yang teramat besar yang telah aku buat. Ternyata ketidak mengertian akan sesuatu telah bisa membuat kita menghancurkan sebuah persahabatan. Mungkin berat…..buat kehilangan ini, tapi bisa jadi ini adalah awal yang terbaik. Terimakasih buat semua hal terbaik yang sudah aku dapatkan…..akan aku jaga seutuhnya…selamanya sepanjang ingatanku.
